China Merchants Securities to invest in Equitile’s UK domiciled fund on behalf of Chinese clients

1st August 2016

Author: Press Release

China Merchants Securities Asset Management Co., Ltd and Equitile Investments Ltd are delighted to announce an agreement which offers Chinese domestic clients access to the UK domiciled Equitile Resilience Fund Authorized Contractual Scheme (ACS).

The China Merchants Securities Equitile Overseas QDII FOF invests into Equitile’s UK domiciled Authorized Contractual Scheme, a fund vehicle recently established by the British government to compete with similar tax transparent vehicles in Luxembourg and Dublin. Equitile has appointed HSBC as one of the leading service providers in the sector, to act as custodian and fund administrator to the ACS.

“Our clients’ desire to diversify by investing in global equity markets is strong and growing. We are delighted to work with fund managers such as Equitile, who offer a competitive investment solution by combining investment resilience with a fair fee model. This collaboration further develops the suite of new overseas opportunities we aim to offer clients” says Mr. Wang Yan, President and Chief Executive Officer of China Merchants Securities (CMS).

“We are privileged to work with one of China’s leading and most highly regarded financial institutions. In particular, we have been immensely impressed by their professionalism and desire to serve their clients by offering exposure to some of the world’s most resilient companies”, says Andrew McNally, Chief Executive Officer of Equitile.

Cian Burke, Global Head of Securities Services, HSBC, added: “CMS’s investment into Equitile’s Authorised Contractual Scheme is an innovative and dynamic example of China outbound investment into the UK – marking a huge step forward for the evolution of the ACS. We are pleased to play an instrumental role in this asset management milestone by bringing together our expertise in China investment servicing and tax transparent fund structures.”

The Equitile ACS is a UCITS fund launched earlier this year with the aim of delivering capital growth by investing in resilient listed companies globally – those with high quality corporate culture, sound finances and a proven track record of innovation and growth.

A number of clients have already invested into the ACS through the CMS Equitile FOF.
